One thing I hate though is at a job where they spout all these steps to do things. Then talk about safety while cutting all kinds of corners. Here I come, Libra energy, and all. I want to do things the way the company wants. Then am told to skip this and that. These things go against the company's expectations. When following all the steps, it makes me slower than others. For example, say on my truck at work, I have to put up the hood. I go and check everything as expected by DOT guidelines. There's other trucks where the driver doesn't put up the hood because it's a cab over. They don't have to check the belts and other engine components. That adds to my time especially if something needs attention. Add-on, the lugnuts. They're supposed to be checked while taking the tire pressure measurements. Nobody else does that. I do. This slows me down more. The horn blows for the 1 minute warning for the brake test. I've been told to skip it when it happens. To skip the brake test. To skip checking the hydraulics. To skip checking the tire pressures on occasion and just enter numbers. I can't do that. Do to my inability to skip things, I'm dead last most days. I go above and beyond to make sure the customer gets what they need. (They're watching. I'm not going to make excuses as to why they can't be served. I'm going to make it happen.) That's wrong. I'm supposed to call it in and leave it. That leaves the customer high and dry. They want to half a55 it. I don't. I gotta leave.
